Sueños Compartidos is an education program in which volunteers
teach English in public elementary schools in Colombia and Mexico. Volunteers stay with a local host family
which provides meals and housing. We offer three programs; the semester program (Colombia and, starting
fall 2010, Mexico) the Christmas program (three weeks in Mexico), and starting summer 2010, a three week summer program
in Mexico or Colombia. The semester program is a four month commitment to work with a community for one
school semester. A volunteer teaches grades three through six at two or three different schools during
the week, and leads an English workshop for public school teachers during the evenings or weekends. The
Christmas program and summer program both consist of a three week commitment to work on a team of volunteer
teachers leading English, sports, and dance activities for children in grades one through six. Generally,
we work in rural areas or “pueblitos”; this is not Bogota or Mexico City!! As a matter of fact,
you’re going to experience Colombia and Mexico in a way that many Colombians and Mexicans never do! Take
